TALK (A 31 Days of Five Minute Free Writes Post)

Do you wonder how much of our talk is worthwhile?  I do.  I sometimes listen to the things that come out of my mouth and just cringe.  Did I really just say something so pedestrian?

So many of our interactions are done by rote.  I say, "How are you?"  and you say, "Fine," even if you're not.  Of course, we don't REALLY want to know most of the time, right?  It's just part of greeting someone you know.

But as human beings, we need deeper connections.  Wouldn't it be horrible if all our conversations were as inane as "How are you?" and "Fine?"

It seems it's getting more and more that way.  So many people are offended by so many things, and they get so angry too, it's uncomfortable to talk about anything meaningful. We need to be able to talk about things that really matter to us, and we all need to be open to listening, even if we don't like what we hear.
